Set in 1812, 'Necessary Deception' brought me to a time when England and France were at war, spies were everywhere (or so it seemed), and the London Season was just beginning.

I loved 'Necessary Deception'! It was written so beautifully and the story was so believable that it became addicting to read (I especially didn't want to put it down towards the end).

The plot had so much mystery! I kept trying to figure out who the mastermind was, who was blackmailing Lydia, and whether or not there was a spy (or spies) in her midst.

Historical romance is not my favorite genre to read (suspense is); however, since there was a lot of mystery - 'Necessary Deception' almost felt like a suspense novel!

'Necessary Deception' is the first book that I've read by Laurie Alice Eakes, but I don't think it will be my last - I can hardly wait for the next addition in 'The Daughters of Bainbridge House' series!

I most definitely recommend 'Necessary Deception' if you enjoy reading novels that have romance as well as mystery!

*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I have done.*

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
